Method for Removing Burrs on Metal Powder Injection Molding Parts

However, sometimes part surface will have burr, which will affect beauty. The burr shall be removed by reasonable method. The methods for removing burrs from metal powder injection molding parts are as follows.


1. Electrochemical deburring of metal powder injection molding


Electrochemical deburring of metal powder injection molding is realized by electric energy and chemical energy dissolving positive electrode. Turbine flowmeter parts and anode of DC power supply are connected to be positive electrode. Molding tools and negative electrode of DC power supply are connected to be negative electrode. The two electrodes keep gap so that electrolyte can make circular flow.


2. Chemical deburring of metal powder injection molding


Put finished parts into metallic mim products solution, and metal on parts surface will go into solution in ion form. These ions will attach to parts surface, form rete of big resistance and small electrical conductivity, in order to protect workpiece from corrosion. Since burrs are higher than surface, chemical action can be used to remove burrs.


3. Deburring of metal powder injection molding at high temperature


First, put parts with burrs into tight sealed chamber, and then send the entirety into H2O2 mixture with certain pressure. Ignite, the mixed gases will explode and release energy, burn burrs of parts and will not injure the parts.


4. Rolling burrs off metal powder injection molding


Put parts and abrasive together into sealed roller. During the roller rotating process, JLND, parts and abrasive will produce griding and remove burrs. Abrasive can be quartz sand, bits of wood, aluminum oxide, ceramics, metal ring, etc.


The parts selection of products made by powder metallurgy surely has certain standards. The standards generally mean if the quality is eligible, and if the parts can bear actions for long time. The parts of bad quality surely have shorter service time than those of good quality, meanwhile they will delay things.
